The Windows version requires 64-bit Windows 10 or 11. We will keep version 8.80.1 available for those few people still running 32-bit Windows 10.
The Mac version requires macOS 13 (Ventura), 14 (Sonoma), or 15 (Sequoia) on Intel or Apple Silicon. We will keep earlier Transcribe! versions available for people running earlier versions of macOS.
The Linux version is 64-bit only. We will keep version 8.80 available for people running 32-bit Linux.
It is free to existing users : it will recognise your license key and you shouldn't need to enter it again.
This is a fairly minor update. Please let me know of any problems you find.
Changes:
- Stem File bugfix (if you don't know what this is about then select the "Manage Stem Files" command on the File menu, and press the Help button): suppose you have multiple stem files which happen to be of different lengths (because some of them are in fact silent after a certain point, so have been truncated). You place markers and/or text blocks and/or loops across the whole track, then switch to a shorter stem. The "excess" (off the end) markers, text blocks, and loops used to get dumped, and they didn't come back when you switch back to the longer stem. This is now fixed.
- Bitrate for audio when exporting video: In the past we did not offer any choice for audio quality when exporting video (the audio export quality settings only applied to exporting audio files). We now offer a choice of 128/256 kbits per second in Preferences, though the higher rate will only be used if stereo.
- Loops: On the Misc page of the Audio Effects and Controls window, if you double-click an occupied loop then the loop will be selected and will start playing. If you double-click a vacant loop then the current position or selection will be stored in it.
- Loop line (if displayed) - If you double-click a loop in the loop line then the loop will be selected and will start playing.
- Slight change to "Quick setup" for foot pedals and for pedals which pretend to be keyboards. The three-button option which used to be called "Music without measure markers" is now called "No markers, jumping" and the commands it uses have changed. Try it.
- In Preferences - Playback, when "Paused playback point follows selection" is selected, we no longer move the paused point if it is already inside an existing selection.
- When placing a marker or text block by keyboard shortcut, when you are not playing, we used to show a message dialog asking where to put it. Now we *only* show a dialog if you are paused, and if the paused point is different from the current point.
- Various other minor changes and bug fixes.
